started this piece three weeks ago and honestly didn't think i'd finish it. satin stitch for the petals, split stitch for the stems. DMC 815 for the deep red and it's everything.

the hardest part was getting the petal direction consistent — satin stitch is so unforgiving. going to add a black linen border next. more photos soon.
